The Homes for Ukraine Scheme
What we do
We are working in partnership with Bristol City Council to support the hosts on the Homes for Ukraine scheme. We are the main point of contact for hosts in this scheme and are funded to provide this support to every host under the scheme in Bristol.
We have video and written training and resources on a variety of topics, which are all available to hosts on request. We also provide email and telephone host support from our resettlement support workers. Additionally, we support hosts and guests who would like to transfer onto a lodging agreement from their Homes for Ukraine placement. If your guest has moved on and you would like to take on a lodger, Refugee Welcome Homes can help match you with a Ukrainian lodger or a refugee lodger.
Our training
Refugee Welcome Homes have produced recorded sessions on a variety of topics (see the list below) to help you in your hosting. If you would like a recording to be sent out to you, please email support@refugeewelcomehomes.net.
The topics covered in our recordings are:
The realities of hosting and how to make it work.
Trauma (adults, children and our own possible vicarious trauma).
Intercultural awareness (including some information about Ukrainian culture).
A session on the options for yourself and your guest(s) after your hosting ends.
We also offer toolkits on subjects such as:
The next steps for Homes for Ukraine guests and hosts, and how to have that conversation.
Where to go for mental health support.
How to make a household agreement.
If you would like a copy of any of these, please email us at the above address.
We have been working together with experts in the various fields across Bristol to put together these recordings.
If you have any queries as a result of watching these recordings, please email support@refugeewelcomehomes.net
Please do spread the word to any other hosts you know, who are based in Bristol. The main email for hosts is support@refugeewelcomehomes.net
Transferring onto a lodging agreement or joining the lodging scheme
If you have hosted a guest on the Homes for Ukraine scheme and they are coming to the end of their placement with you, but you would like them to stay on with you in your home, please get in touch about transferring onto a lodging agreement. Refugee Welcome Homes can talk you through what a lodging agreement would look like for both the host (landlord) and the guest (lodger) and can support with the paperwork.
Additionally if you would like to join the lodging scheme after your Homes for Ukraine guest has left please let us know and we can give you some more information about the scheme and match you with a Ukrainian or refugee lodger. Please follow the link to our lodging scheme here.
